cabin crew minimum requirements

hi all

over the last few months i have been checking different sites to try and figure out what i need to have before i can apply. there is all the obvious stuff like must like travel, preferably young, good figure, fit, friendly, no medical problems, but there are also some other things which you might not know about

1. must be 18 years of age or older (two years to go - i hate this!!!!)
2. height between 163 and 183 cm (apparently this is for safety, so you can do things like reach into the lockers in an emergency)
3. able to lift 28 kg (again for emergencies)
4. some airlines have minimum swimming requirements. for instance, Qantas say you must be able to swim 50 m fully clothed and tread water for 3 minutes
5. first aid certificate (usually a senior first aid certificate) including CPR
6. be a citizen of the country that the job is based in (some places say a resident, but usually it is a citizen)
7. a passport (often required even for jobs where you don't travel overseas)
8. experience in serving alcohol (and sometimes even a qualification to say you can serve alcohol)
9. experience in serving food
10. good spoken (and written) English. other languages are a bonus (tristemente, no hay mucha llamada para el español en Nueva Zelandia:-( why can't i speak a useful language??)
11. "customer service experience" (that is one of the reasons i work in the supermarket at the moment)

they also often talk about things like ability to work flexible hours or move to another city

although it is a great job, being a flight attendant is much harder than a lot of people realise. it looks like not all these things are important for every airline, but i think it must be a bonus if you can say you can do better than each of these requirements
