jobs at risk at Air New Zealand?
hi all
dad tells me that when he was young, Air New Zealand was a great company, and it was the only way to fly. it has always seemed sort of old fashioned to me, so i wasnt surprised to see that Air New Zealand might be laying off 1850 "front line people" (i see from this article). this is a huge number of families affected from an airline which never quite seems to be able to get itself together - it got heaps of money from the New Zealand government a few years ago, but nothing much seems to have changed in the way it does things. i dont really understand how it can accept all the money from government that it has, and then lay off people to send jobs overseas - it doesnt quite seem right
anyway, it sounds like it wont affect existing flight attendants but i do wonder what will happen in the future as more jobs are "outsourced"
